A cat was found at the foot of a block at Hougang yesterday (Jul 8) covered in streaks of blood and severely injured all over, after it was apparently thrown off the block.
Stomper Geraldene was outraged to come across Facebook posts on Yishun 326 Tabby Cat's page, who had rescued this female cat.
The post read:
"We received information that this cat was thrown off a block in Hougang Ave 8 and was picked up by SPCA. One of our team members is rushing down now to take over the cat and bring it to the vet.
"According to SPCA, cat is in very bad condition."
The cat was in critical condition and had to be rushed to Mount Pleasant Emergency.
According to the post, the extent of its injuries were horrifying. It included severely bruised lungs, a dislocated pelvis, a fractured jaw, a fractured backbone, a fractured right front leg, a possible torn bladder, and possible internal injuries.
The feline was given painkillers and was monitored throughout the night. It has since been named
Arial.
Stomper Geraldene said:
"I really wish this will be brought to the attention of the public.
"In a first-world country like Singapore, how can such things still be happening?
"I hope the person [who allegedly threw the cat down] gets caught.
"Such people have to be educated, some $10,000 fine or a jail term simply won't scare them."
As of today, visible bleeding can still be seen from Arial's badly-fractured jaw. It is still unable to eat and a feeding tube will be inserted.
Paws & People are currently selling T-shirts to help raise funds for the procedures needed to get Arial back to health.
As an animal lover, the Stomper is also working on her personal project to liaise with the essential rescue organisations to help raise funds for animal causes.
